Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
