Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after spring of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

He defended four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
